The two company founders, Joe Dryer and Dave Lambert have extensive backgrounds in computer software and hardware design. For Joe this included stints at IBM, Bell Telephone Laboratories, and the Superconducting Super Collider, and much of the hardware design for the special effects at Studio 54 during its heyday. Dave's background included contributions to Linux development and much original control software. After Joe finished his doctorate in engineering and an MBA he got a law degree for fun. In legal seminars Joe saw the need for a higher degree of security in legal practice than even large practices were employing. An even bigger barrier for most law firms was their small size and lack of resources for tackling IT problems. From discussions with Dave came the concept of an integrated package containing security features, safe data storage and secure communications. The DocuShield product is the culmination of those discussions and is leveraged fifteen years of related product development. DocuShield has evolved from a year-long field experience.
